Bahamian Conch Fritters
Crispy golden fritters studded with chewy conch and seasoned with bell peppers and Caribbean spices. Serve with a tangy dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb conch meat (or substitute with calamari or shrimp), finely chopped
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 onion, finely diced
- 1/2 bell pepper, finely diced
- 2 tbsp celery, diced
- 1 tbsp hot sauce
- 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Dipping sauce: 1/2 cup ketchup, 2 tbsp mayo, 1 tbsp lime juice, dash of hot sauce

Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and Old Bay. Whisk in egg and milk to form a thick batter.

Fold in chopped conch, onion, bell pepper, celery, and hot sauce.

Heat oil to 350°F. Drop tablespoon-sized scoops into the hot oil. Fry 3-4 minutes per side until deep golden brown.

Drain on paper towels. Mix dipping sauce ingredients.
