Full English Breakfast
The legendary fry-up: bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, toast, tomatoes, mushrooms, and black pudding all on one plate. It’s a ritual, a hangover cure, and a culinary institution.
Ingredients
- 4 thick-cut bacon rashers (back bacon preferred)
- 4 pork sausages (bangers)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 can (15 oz) baked beans
- 4 oz (115g) button mushrooms, halved
- 2 tomatoes, halved
- 2 slices black pudding (optional but traditional)
- 2 slices thick bread (white or sourdough)
- Butter
- Salt, pepper, and HP sauce for serving
Instructions
-
1
Start with sausages (they take longest): Cook in a large skillet or under a broiler over medium heat, turning regularly, for 12-15 minutes until browned all over and cooked through.
-
2
About 8 minutes in, push sausages to the side and add bacon to the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until crispy. Add black pudding (if using) and cook 2 minutes per side.
-
3
In a separate pan, fry mushrooms in a little butter for 4-5 minutes until golden. Place tomato halves cut-side down in the pan for 3-4 minutes until softened and slightly charred.
-
4
Warm baked beans in a small saucepan. Toast bread and butter it. Fry eggs in the bacon fat to your preference (runny yolk is traditional).
-
5
Arrange everything on large warm plates. Serve with HP sauce and a mug of strong tea.
