Italian Affogato
Italy's two-ingredient dessert genius: a scoop of vanilla gelato 'drowned' in a shot of hot espresso. Coffee meets ice cream.
Ingredients
- 1 large scoop high-quality vanilla gelato or ice cream
- 1 shot freshly brewed hot espresso
- Optional: a splash of amaretto or Frangelico, biscotti for serving
Instructions

Place the scoop of gelato in a small chilled glass or cup.

Brew a fresh shot of espresso (it must be hot and strong).

If using, add a splash of liqueur to the espresso.

At the table, pour the hot espresso directly over the gelato.

Eat immediately with a small spoon while the gelato is melting and the espresso is still hot. Serve with biscotti on the side.
